The Network Engineer implements, executes, and evolves management services for current and future customers. The person in this position will monitor network infrastructure and identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues as well as facilitate improvement projects in the areas of network and system monitoring.
Excellent problem detection and resolution skills are required to ensure that all issues are identified, resolved and communicated in a timely and professional manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor, analyze, report and troubleshoot the networks from installation through the production life of the network
- Provide ongoing network administration, management, trending, analysis and troubleshooting activities for networks
- Support network infrastructure to provide system tuning, prevent network problems; and, analyze, troubleshoot, isolate and diagnose problems.
- Review assigned service requests; follow up and provide status updates to clients; ensure data pertaining to the status of service requests is entered into help desk problem tracking systems accurately and promptly to provide an up-to-date picture of service delivery status and backlog; and track issues/bugs from identification through resolution/completion
- Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness; participate in IT initiatives to address service issues; keep abreast of technical aspects of networking, Wi-Fi and related disciplines
- Follow procedures for network and system administration (e.g., security, reliability)
- Support teams developing applications and databases
- Contribute to task forces and special projects initiated within departments/divisions
- Dispatch Field Support to investigate devices at a site that may be problematic
- Participate in On Call rotation for 24x7x365 service
- Be willing to travel, if needed (10 – 25%)
- Willingness to work flexible hours -- early morning or evening shift and/or weekends – is a plus
- Demonstrate strong analytical troubleshooting skills
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrate strong organizational and detail-oriented skills
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
Education/Essential Skills:
- 4-year degree from accredited college or university or relevant experience
- At least two years experience managing networks
- Demonstrated proficiency working with:
- Cisco, Meraki and/or HP Networking
- Firewalls and VPNs (pfSense, Palo Alto, Fortinet)
- Enterprise Wi-Fi Infrastructure (Aruba Networks, Cisco and/or Meraki)
- Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio
Additional Desirable Skills:
- IPsec /OpenVPN Tunnels
- RADIUS / TACACS Authentication
- Programming/scripting experience (python, perl, shell, php, etc.)
- Linux
- Windows server 2012 and 2016
